How We Approach a Photoshoot

15th February, 2024

Producing a photoshoot is like building a well-oiled machine – behind every beautiful photograph you see on our website is a collection of moving parts, suppliers, and various creative visions. In fact, making the photograph is one of the last steps of our process.

We are proud to be one of the few commercial photographers in Canberra that offer full production alongside photography. We often have potential clients approach us knowing that they need new images, but not knowing the best way to go about it. This is where Naomi, our producer, can join with your team to help make your idea become a reality.

Client involvement is an essential part of our production process. We take the time to meet with our clients and learn about what they are hoping to achieve with their photographs. It might be as simple as a series of new corporate portraits, or it might be a multi-day Federal Government marketing campaign photoshoot.

We ask questions from the start:

  • What is the purpose/use for these photographs?

  • What message or feeling are you trying to portray?

  • What can we achieve within your budget?

Once we have a better understanding of the story you are trying to tell through photography, we can get to work. Depending on the requirements of our client we can assist with organising the following:

  • Sourcing talent

  • Scouting locations

  • Finding Stylists and Hair and Makeup Artists

  • Creating shot-lists

  • Developing and distributing call-sheets

  • And of course photographers

Client involvement continues through all aspects of a photoshoot – we shoot tethered to a laptop, ensuring our clients can review photographs in real time therefore we can make changes as needed. We also offer fast turnaround, with Low-Res selects being delivered within a day of the shoot. For simpler photoshoots, such as corporate portraits, we can deliver final images same-day (or next day if retouching is required).

If you’re a business that needs images for your website, brochure, marketing collateral or LinkedIn but you’re unsure how to go about organising it, feel free to reach out and see how Lightbulb Studio can help you turn your vision into a reality.
